WORLD ENERGY DIALOGUE 2009

21 - 22 April 2009 at HANNOVER MESSE 2009

Spotlight on Sustainable Energy Supply
With the world's energy needs growing and growing, new approaches to power generation and distribution are absolutely essential. Only a joint, global effort can lead to a balanced, sustainable energy mix from conventional and renewable sources, and this is the goal behind the WORLD ENERGY DIALOGUE taking place for the fourth consecutive year in Hannover, Germany on 21 - 22 April 2009. In exploring the many challenges and promising solutions, expert dialogue can make all the difference, and this is the one event that brings it all together: energy experts, policymakers, top R&D specialists, visionaries...

At the WORLD ENERGY DIALOGUE, our (energy) future is in the making!

At the close of day one of this day-day conference, the 3rd annual Energy Efficiency Award will be presented to innovative industrial firms. This coveted prize is granted for inspired approaches to increasing energy efficiency and lowering costs, and several other reference projects will be highlighted along with the winners.

The WORLD ENERGY DIALOGUE is being chaired by Dr. Klaus Töpfer, former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and will feature contributions by federal ministers and well-recognized experts from Europe, Africa, Asia and the U.S.

The WORLD ENERGY DIALOGUE will once again take place as an integral part of HANNOVER MESSE (the Hannover Fair). Last year's WORLD ENERGY DIALOGUE met with a very positive response in Hall 27 - at the heart of all the trade fair action - and will thus be held at the same location in 2009.

More than 640 people from 25 nations attended the third WORLD ENERGY DIALOGUE conference at HANNOVER MESSE 2008, including Japan's Senior Vice Minister of the Economy Masashi Nakano. Proceedings of the conference can be viewed here.

The WORLD ENERGY DIALOGUE has been held by the Federation of German Industries (BDI), Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) - the German Energy Agency and Deutsche Messe in collaboration with the steering committee.

Patronage of the Federal Ministery for Economics and Technology (BMWi).
